Chris Jarstad began teaching Spanish and Video Production/Broadcast Journalism at Timberlake in 2004. This was his first teaching job after working at KXLY in Spokane as a TV news producer. Mr. Jarstad attended the University of Idaho, earning degrees in Journalism, Spanish and Secondary Education.
Mr. Jarstad quickly earned the nickname “Señor” and students don’t hesitate to yell “hola Señor,” when they see him around town. This has made for some awkward moments.
Señor Jarstad has enjoyed many trips to Mexico and even spent a few nights in a Mayan village. One of the most rewarding experiences for Señor is to see his students succeed in college level Spanish classes. He currently has several students pursuing majors and minors in Spanish.
The morning announcements, also known as Tiger TV, is broadcast live everyday from THS and Mr. Jarstad enjoys seeing students take pride in the daily five minute newscast. Tiger TV has placed in the top five in the state for Broadcast News Team and most recently won the state championship.
